Peeling
Peeling is the process of removing material from the surface of hot-rolled bars to eliminate the decarburized layer and surface defects. It is preferred especially for larger diameters (15-160mm) and provides a smoother surface than cold drawing.

Dimension Table
| Profile | Size Range (mm) | Tolerance | Standard | Surface (Ra) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Round | 15 - 30 | h9 | EN 10278 | ≤ 1.6 µm |
| Round | 30 - 50 | h9 | EN 10278 | ≤ 2.0 µm |
| Round | 50 - 80 | h9/h10 | EN 10278 | ≤ 2.5 µm |
| Round | 80 - 100 | h11 | EN 10278 | ≤ 3.2 µm |
| Round | 100 - 130 | h11 | EN 10278 | ≤ 3.2 µm |
| Round | 130 - 160 | h11 | EN 10278 | ≤ 4.0 µm |
Technical Notes
- 01Standard tolerance for diameters above 80mm is h11.
- 02Peeling depth is typically 1-3mm.
- 03Post-process straightness is within 1mm/m.
- 04Internal structure inspection possible with ultrasonic testing.
- 05Standard length: 3000-7000mm, custom cutting available on request.
- 06Peeling + straightening combination provides optimum results.
- 07Ideal for alloy steels like 42CrMo4, 34CrMo4.
