Yes, stainless steel is slightly heavier. Carbon steel: 7.85 g/cm³, AISI 304: 7.93 g/cm³, AISI 316: 7.98 g/cm³. Selecting the correct density value is important.
How is steel plate weight calculated?
Steel plate weight: Width(mm) x Length(mm) x Thickness(mm) x 0.00000785. Example: 1000x2000x10mm plate: 1000 x 2000 x 10 x 0.00000785 = 157 kg.
